Mercedes-Benz sought to garner press coverage for its new Sprinter production plant, and reaffirm the positioning of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Metris as the blue collar work horse vehicles. OSK was approached to showcase its PR capabilities and produce an informative and buzz worthy ceremony to raise awareness and excitement around the Charleston community. The ground-breaking ceremony was the pinnacle event for the corresponding press drive featuring Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Metris vans.

Since the Sprinter and the Metris are an integral part of everyday business operations OSK designed all engaged the local Charleston community to showcase a wide range of applications for the models. Journalists were invited to meet with local Charleston businesses from multiple industries as they showcased their vans and demonstrated the versatile functions of the vehicles. Guests then had the opportunity to test out the “upfitted” Sprinter and Metris Vans for themselves as they toured through the port of Charleston.

The waves of press converged for the featured ground-breaking ceremony for the newest production facility. Local employees of the current plant, joined press and local officials to help welcome in the new era of expanded production capabilities for Mercedes-Benz. A roster of speakers including Mercedes-Benz executives, Nikki Haley (Governor of South Carolina), and Senator Lindsey Graham (R- S.C) donned the stage to speak about the benefits of the new manufacturing plant and highlighted the positive impact the new plant would bring to the Charleston community. The featured programmed commemorated with the presentation of an engraved cornerstone that anchors the new building.
